The recent data unveiled has pointed over a surprising rise in the number of people opting for low fare airlines.
The data revealed that the number of passengers flying with low cost airline easyJet registered a surge over 9% in June touching 4.5m plus level. In addition, the reason for the jump is claimed to be strike action launched at British Airways.
easyJet claimed that it recorded nearly 4.54m people travelling by its plans last month, marking a rise from 4.15m recorded, the previous year, thereby, taking the total to a boosted level for the last 12 months by 7% touching
47.64m.
Also, its orange liveried planes witnessed an effective demand, claiming a load factor of 87.2% risen from 86.3% witnessed in June 2009. The 12-month figure climbed 1.5 points to 86.7%.
British Airways, yesterday, outlined that traffic measured in terms of revenue passenger kilometers marked a plunge 11.1% in June on account of devastating strikes launched by the Unite union in the first nine days of the month.
It recorded its passenger capacity to slip 8.6% compared to a year earlier, with 5% of the plunge attributed to the triggered industrial action.
Also, the air traffic witnessed a shocking 9.2% fall in premium traffic and an 11.4% plunge in non-premium traffic.
